I was commissioned by Outlaw design agency to create illustrations for Cornish Orchards’ new cider packaging. Design and art direction by Outlaw. The illustrations are inspired by the expansive canopy of trees at the Cornish Orchards apple farm in Duloe, Cornwall.

I was thrilled to be commissioned by Marks & Spencer to create two illustrated scenes to be printed around their Christmas gin liqueurs.

The bottles are snow globes- the gin contains edible gold leaf and feature an LED light in the base, so when shaken they become snowy landscapes. I was tasked with illustrating a winter wonderland of animals and trees, and a festive high street scene, including a little M&S shopfront!

A year or so ago, I was thrilled to be asked by a publisher to create a new cover for Gregory Maguire’s classic, Wicked, to coincide with the film release. Unfortunately the publisher stuck with the previous cover, but I had a lot of fun working on the cover design and some patterned endpapapers.

One of my favourite projects last year; I was commissioned by Vintage Books to illustrate 3 fairy tales that have been given a feminist spin by 3 bestselling authors; Malorie Blackman, Kamila Shamsie and Jeanette Winterson. The tales were Blueblood, Duckling and Hansel and Greta- modern takes on classic tales.

I was thrilled to work on the Christmas 2024 packaging for the classic Yorkshire-based brand, Bettys.

Known for their craft bakery and beautiful tea rooms, the team at Bettys asked me to create illustrations for their Christmas range; including mince pies, Christmas puddings, gift bags and even an apron design.

Something more colourful than usual, based on the changing seasons and experimenting with some texture and layering. An autumnal forest with falling leaves and fox, with experimental white silhouette version too, and a wintery scene with deer.

A botanical-inspired label illustration for Silent Pool Distillers. Working with design agency SeymourPowell, the pattern was created from the ingredients used in the award-winning gin, as well as taking inspiration from the local mythology at Silent Pool in Surrey.

Legend has it that, back in the 13th Century, a beautiful young woman was bathing by the pool when a man on horseback approached. The stranger, overcome by her beauty caused her to swim deeper into the lake, where she drowned. The horse rider was said to be non other than evil Prince John, brother of King Richard, and the drowned maiden is said to haunt the lake at midnight…

I was commissioned by Vintage Books to illustrate the cover and chapter headers for Lucy Mangan's reading memoir Bookworm. Working under the wonderful art direction of Julia Connolly, I got to revisit my own childhood reading and illustrated little icons from such classics as The Worst Witch, The Hungry Caterpillar and George's Marvellous Medicine.

After working on some large scale Jungle Book-inspired illustrations for St George's Hospital, I wanted to create more intricate, full spread illustrations based on Rudyard Kipling's classic book. I used this as an opportunity to experiment with colour and texture.

Book cover and interior illustrations for Return to Wonderland- a new collection of stories published by Macmillan and inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

The anthology features 11 fantastic children's authors; Peter Bunzl, Pamela Butchart, Maz Evans, Swapna Haddow, Patrice Lawrence, Chris Smith, Lauren St John, Robin Stevens, Lisa Thompson, Piers Torday and Amy Wilson.

It’s been an ambition of mine to illustrate Alice for a very long time. To celebrate 150 years of Lewis Carroll’s Alice's Adventures in Wonderland I decided to tackle this classic tale.
I immersed myself into the world of Alice to create several book illustrations, some title page typography, chapter headers and endpapers.


I also made a little handmade, limited edition concertina book featuring 8 illustrated pages, endpapers, hardback covers and a bellyband, in an edition of 30.

A4 Alice prints, postcards and greeting cards are available in my Etsy shop.

Georgian silhouettes to celebrate 250 years of Edinburgh's New Town. The month-long outdoor lumière event featured several of my illustrations projected onto prominent buildings, including Bute House (home of Scotland's First Minister), and animated in windows around the UNESCO World Heritage area of the city.

Working with Projectsphere, I created a Georgian 'link boy' to guide visitors, as well as a house full of guests; dancing, feasting, dressing up and reading.

Cover design for Robert Dinsdale's dark and magical novel The Toymakers. I was commissioned by Penguin Random House to illustrate this enchanting tale set in a Victorian toyshop.

Art direction and design by Clare Stacey at Head Design- we tried to capture the enchantment of the story and during the design process we went through several versions of the cover, shown here. I also created chapter headers for the novel. I was thrilled when my illustration was reused for the paperback edition.

An illustrated backdrop created in collaboration with Studioarc design for the newly renovated Museum of Childhood, Edinburgh. My illustrations were used in the interactive play area and were a combination of Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Rose Red and various new fairy tale elements, such as a dragon and wizard.

My first illustrated gift book for Orchard Books. Taking inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale The Snow Queen, I worked with the wonderful team at Orchard to create a concertina format, featuring a laser cut pop up castle and stand up figures to play with, that comes complete with foiling and metallic inks.

Book cover designs for the second and third in Jordan Stratford's Wollstonecraft Detective Agency series- The Case of the Girl in Grey and The Case of the Counterfeit Criminals. Published by Penguin Random House Children's, these middle grade adventure mysteries feature a young Mary Shelley and Ada Lovelace.

I was commissioned by Scholastic Books in the US to illustrate a series of board books. These cute little contrast books are for parents to share with newborn babies, and feature a small splash of colour on each page.

Vinyl wall and window illustrations for The Lanesborough Wing at St George's Hospital, Tooting.

The project and brief, commissioned by arts director Lucy Ribeiro was to update the bare walls of the children's Jungle Ward and theatre corridor and create a calming but vibrant atmosphere for the children. Using the theme of The Jungle Book we came up with a set of illustrations filled with jungle animals, vines and palms that the children and parents could explore. It's been lovely to see and hear how positively patients and staff alike have been responding to it. The vinyl designs were brought to life by New Vision.

I was commissioned by Little, Brown to create a cover for Clare Mackintosh's collection A Cotswold Family Life. It was a joy to work on, particularly as the Cotswolds are a place close to my heart since I spent a lot of time there from childhood onwards.

I was commissioned by Heritage Interactive to create illustrated backdrops and characters for animated stories shown in ‘The Wise Woman’s Hut’ at the newly refurbished Ely Museum. The stories are spooky retellings of local Cambridgeshire folklore, set in the fens landscape.

Book covers and chapter headers for Idries Shah's World Tales. Originally published in 1979, the tales were republished as limited edition volumes by the Idries Shah Foundation. An inspiring project, this was a great opportunity to play around with transparent layering, creating a smokey, Arabian Nights-style effect.

I also created a second set of book covers for the Idries Shah Foundation: The World of Nasrudin.

I worked with designer Sonia D'Orsi at The Science Museum on some large scale exhibition graphics for Superbugs: The Fight for Our Lives.

The exhibition is a timely exploration of antibiotic resistance. I was thrilled to be commissioned by the museum to create some illustrated backdrops for the displays.

Here are some of the backdrops, including pigs and chickens, a doctor’s surgery and hospital, a demonstration and an infographic about Colistin- the antibiotic of last resort.

Working with Chapter Agency I was commissioned to create this decorative oriental floral pattern for Yardley London's new perfume, Kiri.

Also included here is an earlier, unused version of the Kiri logo with floral elements.

A series inspired by beautiful buildings and architecture, with a hint of gold. First up, Dutch canal houses, after a trip to Amsterdam, and Maison Dandoy, a delicious Speculoos (biscuit) shop in Brussels.

I knew nothing at all about the ballet so I decided to immerse myself in the story behind Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and was enchanted instantly. Here's the white swan, Odette and Odile, the black swan, I've experimented with adding some texture.

Illustrations for Taschen's first two children's books; The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, (2011) above and below, The Fairy Tales of Hans Christian Andersen, (2013), edited and art directed by Noel Daniel.

I was thrilled to have my work sit alongside such legendary artists as Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen, Lotte Reiniger, Harry Clarke, Walter Crane and Herbert Leupin, to name but a few!

In additition to the illustrations I created the endpapers and also the hand decorated 'pea tendril' lettering for the title and each tale's drop cap. I created around fifty illustrations for each book. Here are just a few of them: first photograph by Mark Deacon.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the publication of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, I created a new cover for the short story The Man with the Twisted Lip, a tale of mistaken identities and opium dens. I had great fun drawing this smokey Victorian London setting and would love to revisit more Sherlock in the future... Bonus white inverted edition included here. I also hand lettered the title.
